Background

This tournament allows players to improve/obtain their international FIDE rating without taking a week off from studies/work. If there is a sufficiently large non-English entry with high enough grades then IM norms may be possible as several IM's normally enter. If you are from outside England and need a visa ask the Tournament Secretary for a letter to support your visa application.

Format

A 9 round Open tournament with Swiss and All Play All sections. To provide opportunities for international rating on the FIDE World Rating List the organisers reserve the right to transfer players between sections and amalgamate sections. Rate of play is 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by all remaining moves in 1 hour. There will be no adjournments.

Timetable (round starting times)

Friday 25th Jan. 18.00; Saturday 26th Jan. 9.00 and 16.00; Sunday 27th Jan. 9.00 and 16.00
Saturday 2nd Feb. 9.00 and 16.00; Sunday 3rd Feb. 9.00 and 16.00
