The Spanish Chess Federation have allowed additional players to compete in the World Youth Championships. The three additional England players were accepted on the understanding that they were responsible for making all their own arrangements, and were not part of the official England group as nominated by the due and proper selection process. The players are representing England and we wish them every success and will report their progress along with the rest of the England party. If we had had more funds available the selectors would have considered nominating additional players. I am attempting to raise some financial support for the additional players.
The Saitek sponsorship and support has enabled us to send full squads, boys and girls, to all World and European Championships this year. I understand that this is the first time in at least six years that the BCF has been able to achieve this. It is largely thanks to Saitek, the hard work of team managers, selectors, coaches, parents and supportive individuals that we have been able to record this success.
It is open to anyone to raise funds to support our junior players and all help would be much appreciated by our talented youngsters.
Donations, small or large (clearly stating for the benefit of juniors representing England) to:-
